LOWER TAXES!

Why, after studying the upcoming Florida reduction of property tax Referendum,

I Support it.

In a nutshell, it only reduces City and County revenue by 10%.

Given the rampant dishonesty, fraud, and/or waste in these bodies, I am good with this.

I have been heavily involved in efforts to control the rise in property taxes.  I appeared on ABC TV News Nightline, at the invitation of Marco Rubio.

With the help of State Representative Carlos Lopez Cantera--for whom I served in a paid campaign capacity--I apparently lucked into helping negotiate the final draft of Florida's Constitutional Amendment One, seeking to lower property taxes, which was approved by Florida's voters in 2008.  I helped negotiate the addition of a 10% annual cap on rises in commercial property taxes.

I have a pending Complaint with the Miami-Dade County Inspector General's Office alleging illegal procedures by the County Property Appraiser's Office's for assessing commercial properties' taxable value.

I have also been involved, thanks to former Governor Charlie Crist, in addressing the issue of high hurricane insurance costs.
